Crackdown hard on drug peddlers, Haryana police seize 19 tonnes of drugs in 2021

In line with the Government’s commitment to make Haryana a drug-free state, the police have intensified their efforts on peddlers that has resulted in the seizure of a whopping 19.03 tonnes of narcotic substances from January to November 2021 across the state.

 

Disclosing this here on Wednesday, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana, PK Agrawal said that Police have filed a total of 2361 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and seized contrabands.

 

Giving details about the drug-wise seizure, the DGP said that 271-kg opium, over 140-kg charas/sulpha, 6931-kg poppy husk, 8-kg 218-gram smack, 11666-kg ganja, and 16-kg 882-gram heroin was confiscated.

 

“We have adopted a multi-pronged approach that resulted in the seizure of such large quantity of narcotics. The crackdown was made in line with the government’s commitment to make Haryana a drug-free state”, he added.

 

The top cop further made it clear that the state police won’t allow drug peddlers to spoil the lives of youths.

 

At 397, the maximum cases under NDPS Act were registered in Sirsa, followed by 204 in Gurugram, 186 in Fatehabad, 173 in Karnal, 144 in Rohtak, 130 in Hisar, and 113 in Kurukshetra.
