‘Alternatives to conventional energy is need of the hour’, Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Singh

Utilising and promoting alternatives to conventional energy is the need of the hour. The Haryana government is taking initiatives to ensure that people adopt pocket-friendly and environment-friendly options than traditional sources of energy.

 

Stating this Haryana Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister Ranjit Singh said that the traditional resources of energy are exhausting due to modernization, however, excessive exploitation of the resources is unfavourable for the environment.

 

In a statement issued here today, he said that solar energy has emerged as an efficient option in the present situation. 

 

“The solar energy saves both money and power other than not being harmful to the environment. Solar energy is also often called the future electricity, because electricity can be generated through solar energy at home as required. Solar power is proving to be very effective in small industries and farms as well. Several schemes have been implemented by the state government to promote solar energy, under which special subsidy is also provided to the people on solar energy equipment”, said he.

 

The minister further shared that under the Manohar Jyoti Yojana started by the Department of New and Renewable Energy, solar equipment is being provided to families living in areas without electricity or women-headed rural families, school-going students belonging to scheduled caste, BPL families, beneficiaries of PMAY (Rural) and to other rural families on subsidy. Under this scheme a 150 watt solar module, 80 AHH / 12 W Lithium battery, a ceiling fan, three LED lights and other related accessories are provided. Their total cost is Rs 22,500 while after the giving the grant the equipments are provided at Rs 7,500 only.

 

He also informed that a grant of Rs 6,000 and Rs 10,000 is being given on 300 watt and 500 watt domestic inverter charging systems and related equipment respectively.
