Haryana government has decided to provide Rs 30 Lakh cover, in case of death, to its police personnel directly engaged in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Giving this information here on Thursday, Director General of Police (DGP), Manoj Yadava said that Police was playing a proactive role in the COVID 19 fight especially in enforcing the lockdown. Considering Police as the frontline force in fighting coronavirus, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal had recently announced this measure to protect all Police personnel under like it has been done for healthcare personnel.
The DGP further said, “Our officers and jawans are in the frontline in this battle against coronavirus and directly dealing with people in fighting with the disease. Many of our personnel are also engaged in dealing with positive COVID patients those under quarantine. An amount of Rs 30 Lakh will be paid to any police personnel who loses his life because of COVID-19 infection in the course of assigned duties.”
This financial assistance would be paid out of Haryana COVID-19 Relief Fund, he said.
The top cop also appreciated the services rendered by the police force in helping all other departments to maintain the availability of essential supplies in the given situation.
