Seven police personnel posted in Ambala district of Haryana have been sent to Police lines for allegedly demanding money during vehicle checking from a person, who was going from Dehradun to Patiala.
In Naraingarh area, an SPO has demanded Rs 200 from a vehicle owner at a checking point on Kala-Amb Road as the owner has soft copy of the insurance in the mobile. He had rest of the documents pertaining to the vehicle, only the soft copy of the insurance was in the mobile.
When driver apprised the Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava about the incident over phone to him, Yadava immediately instructed SP Ambala to look into the matter and take necessary action accordingly.
Taking serious note the matter after verifying facts from DSP Naraingarh, SP Ambala has sent all seven personnel, including two home guards, two SPOs, two ESI and one EASI, to Police Lines. Further action will be taken after the inquiry report of Deputy Superintendent of Police Nariangarh.
It may be mentioned here that the DGP had given clear instructions that corruption will not be tolerated at any cost, and strict disciplinary action would be taken against those indulge in such practices.
