Surjewala condemns police lathicharge on ITI students, staff in Karnal

Senior Congress leader and member of Central Core Committee of Congress Party Randeep Singh Surjewala has severely condemned the police lathicharge on students and staff members inside the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) campus of Karnal.

In a press statement issued on Friday,  he referred to the BJP government’s slogan of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, Surjewala said that the police action on girl students in Karnal has exposed the reality and so called slogan has become “Beti Satao, Beti Pitwao’.

Describing Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government in Haryana as ‘ruthless and cruel government’, Surjewala said, “While the nation is remembering the Jallianwala martyrs on the completion of 100 years of Jallianwala Bagh massacre on 13th April, the Haryana Police is committing cruelty and atrocities on the innocent ITI students, who were agitated on the death of a fellow student in Karnal in a road accident.”

The Haryana police atrocities have reminded the people of English brutalities. Police reportedly not only lathicharged the students inside the campus but they also beat the girls and staff members by entering inside the staff rooms and class rooms, which exposes the most deplorable and anti-students mindset of the BJP government, he added.

Surjewala alleged that Chief Minister Khattar has utterly failed to give a people friendly administration and the government to the people of the state. Under his rule, the Haryana police often appears helpless in front of the criminals and the rioters, but the same police becomes brutal and ruthless to the ordinary citizens demanding some justice.

He said, “This Khattar government has again and again tried to suppress the voice of the people, who were fighting for their rightful cause be it lathi charge on the parents demanding justice in the Ryan international school incident of Gurugram or lathicharge on nursing students, government employees or farmers on numerous occasions.”

Surjewala also demanded public apology from the chief minister and action against the guilty administrative officials for the barbaric lathi charge. He also demanded immediate acceptance of the fair demands of the agitating students.
